The Notepad is a good place to keep all sorts of notes,
whether it be a list of hot sales tips or your company's rules
and regulations. Instead of having many scraps of paper on your
desk, have the electronic equivalent waiting in Right Hand Man to
be edited, exported to another location, or printed out. You'll
also be able to search through all your notepads for the
occurrence of particular text. You can also have the option to
create password-protected, encrypted notepads to guard your
personal data.
File: The File commands submenu offers options to
create/manage the list of notepads:
New: Creates a new notepad (same as pressing the <Ins>
key). Once you've given the notepad a name, RHM
brings you directly into the notepad text window.
Notepad names have a limit of eight characters and
are displayed in alphabetical order.
Open: Lets you read/edit a notepad. Same as pressing
<Enter> on any highlighted notepad entry. The
highlighted notepad name is the default. Select
the desired notepad name, then press <Enter>. See
also View.
Delete: Deletes the highlighted notepad. RHM will ask you
to confirm the deletion. You can also use the
<Del> key.
Rename: Changes the name of a notepad.
Save: Saves the changes you've made in the notepad
you're currently editing.
Print: Prints out the highlighted notepad.
Export: Exports a notepad to any application program or
another module. When you select Export, the
contents of the highlighted notepad are saved to
the export buffer. Go to the desired destination,
then use <Ctrl-E> to retrieve the data.
View: This command is used to view (but not edit) a
notepad. To read a file it is strongly advised
that you View a notepad rather than use Open. See
also Open.
Exit: Exits the Notepad module, bringing you to the main
program opening screen.
Edit: The Resident Editor option is available when you are
editing a notepad. See the Resident Editor section of
Main Menu Help for more information.
Search: Allows you to search through all notepads for the
occurrence of a string of text up to 19 characters in
length. Select Search, enter the text you want to
search for, then press <Enter>. RHM will quickly scan
each notepad for the text. When the search is
completed, RHM will display a list of notepads that
contain the string. Highlight the notepad you want and
go directly into it by pressing <Enter>.
Password: This command allows you to change the password on an
encrypted notepad.
